The Cardinal Champions program is structured to increase community awareness of Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß eventsCardinal Champion and news, foster positive community relationships, and create informed community champions equipped with the tools to serve as credible voices and bridge the gap between Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß and the Southeast Texas community. 

Role as a Cardinal Champion  

  • Attend quarterly sessions to receive university updates. 
  • Share university news and materials in your community (e.g., at your workplace, civic groups, churches, schools, or via social media).  
  • Provide feedback about how the university can better connect with and serve our community.  
  • Be a visible advocate for Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß’s opportunities and impact.  
  • Help introduce prospective students and families to the experiences, programs, and opportunities available at Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß.

Expectations & Time Commitment  

  • Quarterly Sessions 
  • Outreach Activities: Estimated 1–2 hours per month to share resources or talk about Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß happenings with your networks.  
  • Communication: Check emails for updates and opportunities.  
  • Timeframe: Participation is intended for one year, with opportunities to continue involvement.  

What it Means for You  

  • Regular updates on campus news and events.  
  • Ready-to-use communication materials (flyers, graphics, social media posts).  
  • Recognition in Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß newsletters, website, and special appreciation events.  
  • A chance to shape how the university communicates and connects with our community.  

How to Share Information  

  • Post flyers on local bulletin boards (libraries, gyms, businesses). 
  • Share social media content from Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß’s official channels.  
  • Include Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß updates in your business or organization newsletter (if applicable).  
  • Mention Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß news during civic club or organization meetings.  
  • Get your RED ON! Promote engagement and wear your red within your circles.     

We’ll provide everything you need—you just bring your voice and your connections!  

How Participants Are Selected 

Selections are based on:  

  • University and community involvement and representation in the Golden Triangle.  
  • Desire to support Ůӟ£ÀûÔÚÏß and its mission and vision. 
  • Representation from multiple local stakeholder groups in the community.    

Cohort Size: 40 participants (the first cohort has been selected for the 2026-27 school year)
